What not to do in your first management job

What not to do in your first management position. When people get promoted that is a great thing, but there are pitfalls. Al lot of people do not know how to spot those pitfalls and fall right into them. This article gives tips on what not to do and what to watch out for. What not to do: overreach yourself; think that management means more of the same; try to stay everyone’s best pal; be arrogant; be afraid to stretch your people and assume that your team members think like you. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/career_and_jobs/article3801022.ece

I thought that this was a very interesting article, especially because I would like to be in a management position. It’s especially interesting to see, what those people did wrong, because real life examples are being used. However, I think that it doesn’t necessarily mean, that if you follow all these tips you are going to be a super manager. Of course they could help you, if you keep them in the back of your head, but I also think that you have to be suited for the job and find your own method of how to run things. But this article will help you avoid the most fall pits.

Gorge for a boy, diet for a girl - that's just wrong, baby

A study from Exeter University shows that we can help determine the sex of our children by watching what we eat during the pregnancy. “If you want a boy, eat a healthy diet with a high calorie intake, including breakfast” says Fiona Mathews. But for women who are already too heavy, gaining too much weight during the pregnancy can increase health risks; like high blood pressure. Even though it’s a wrong thing to do, women who really want a girl are more likely to go on a low-calorie plan and that could harm the development of the foetus as well as the mother’s health. So it’s possible to have the child that you want, but there are some strings attached...

So this article says that you can have an influence on the sex of your unborn child. Basically it says when you eat a lot of calories and have breakfast during your pregnancy you MIGHT get a boy and if you go on a low calorie plan you MIGHT have a chance of having a daughter. After the dieting the only thing you can do is hope that the foetus is going to be healthy!!! This research should be viewed with caution, because even though it sound great, “getting the child you want” it comes with a lot of dangers not just for the baby but also for the mother. Personally, I don’t think the research findings are flawless, after all Victoria Beckham has three bonny boys she was as “skinny” during her pregnancy.
